I just said that you Swedish seems good and asked if you've been to Sweden before. Or are you planning a trip there and want to learn some Swedish before you go? Or just interested in the language?

I figured. I've never been to Sweden, no. I don't even plan to go. My reason is kind of silly. My favorite places in world are Iceland and Denmark, and my lastname has a Norwegian origin. For some time I've been wanting to learn some one of the Nordic languages, Icelandic is too hard, I can't figure out Danish' grammar, and by just scanning over a bunch of articles, figured that Swedish would be the easiest. grinning smiley

Cool that you picked Swedish to learn. I would say that Swedish or Norwegian are probably the easiest of the Scandinavian languages to learn for an English speaker, although I may be bias because I spent a year in Sweden as an exchange student but I think that Danish is hard to understand because they kind of mumble and all their sentences run together and I've heard that Icelandic grammar can be pretty tricky. I wish I had some better tools on this site like audio, etc. for you to learn Swedish and other languages. But I'm glad you found my site smiling smiley Välkommen drinking smiley

Haha, yeah. Time for Kids has audio on the very few phrases they have, but they only feature Iceland and Norway in Scandinavia.

Katahrund,

Would you say it's easier for you to understand/speak Norwegian or Swedish than Danish? I lived in Sweden for a year and always thought it was much easier to understand Norwegian than Danish even though they are pretty similar in written form.

i have never learn norwegian or swedish but it is similar to danish in written form.
and yes i think its much easier to understand norwegian and swedish people rather then danish. its very hard to understand it, because of the accent.
